A 45-year-old Gosnells man is in custody after allegedly embarking on a terrifying midday crime spree on Friday, smashing at least 20 vehicles with a metal pole and leading police on a wild, high-speed chase through Perth's suburbs.

The chaos began around noon when the suspect, driving a Toyota Camry, moved rapidly through a wide stretch of the metropolitan area, including Mount Lawley, Perth, Inglewood, East Perth, South Perth, Carine, Madeley, and Duncraig.

Terrified Motorists Escape Injury

During the 90-minute rampage, the driver allegedly stopped his vehicle multiple times, jumped out, and used a heavy metal pole to strike parked and stationary cars, causing extensive damage. Shockingly, several of the targeted vehicles were occupied at the time of the attacks.

Despite the violence of the damage, local authorities confirmed that, miraculously, no injuries were reported. Terrified witnesses and motorists flooded emergency lines with reports, enabling police to quickly piece together the suspect's movements.

Police Air Wing Coordinates Arrest

In response to the escalating threat, WA Police launched a coordinated, cross-district operation. The suspect's Toyota Camry was eventually spotted from above by the Police Air Wing as it travelled through the northern suburbs.

When officers on the ground attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver allegedly refused to pull over, sparking a dangerous high-speed pursuit. Police allege the man drove recklessly and on the wrong side of the road, showing a complete disregard for public safety.

The pursuit finally ended on Lilburne Road in Duncraig, where officers successfully intercepted the vehicle and arrested the driver. The 45-year-old Gosnells resident has been charged with a string of offences, including criminal damage, being armed in a way that may cause fear, and reckless driving to escape pursuit. He is scheduled to face court on Saturday.
