A 43-year-old woman from Perth has been charged with endangering the life, health or safety of a person after allegedly contaminating her colleague's curry with poisonous snail pellets.
According to police, the incident occurred in February at a workplace in Oldbury, a semi-rural area south-east of Perth. A 58-year-old woman had brought a container of curry to share with colleagues during a morning tea break. The curry was eaten without issue during the break, but at lunchtime, the woman noticed bright green granules in the food and reported experiencing numbness to her tongue after tasting it.
The food was kept and handed over to police, who allege that the 43-year-old woman accessed a chemical storage shed and then added snail pellets to the curry during the time between the morning tea break and lunch.
"The two women were also in a personal relationship," a police spokesperson said.
Detectives investigated and identified the substance as snail pellets containing metaldehyde, a poisonous substance. The 43-year-old woman has been charged with one count of endangering the life, health or safety of a person and is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on November 5.
