A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his twin brother, whose body was found in the backyard of their home in a south Perth suburb.
Ashley Bruno Grillo appeared in court from hospital, where he is being held due to "significant concerns" for his mental health. He was charged with one count of murder and attended court via telephone on Saturday.
The prosecutor, Sergeant William Peacock, told the court Mr Grillo had been restrained to his hospital bed for the safety of staff, and arrangements were being made to transfer him to a forensic mental health facility.
He is next due to appear in court on October 16.
Police went to the home in Orelia after a family member called with welfare concerns. Officers who attended the property discovered the body in the backyard.
Detective Acting Superintendent Jessica Securo said police had seized blades from the home that could have been used as weapons. The body had "obvious injuries", and police were treating the death as a suspected family violence homicide, she said.
Forensics officers examined a patch of upturned soil in the property's backyard after the body was discovered.
