WA's Wild Ride: From Floods to Heatwaves in September
WA's September weather was a mixed bag, with heavy rain in the interior and summer-like heat in the south. The varied weather conditions were on full display in photos from our viewers.
Western Australia's first month of spring was a rollercoaster ride of unpredictable weather, with the state experiencing a mixed bag of unusually heavy rain inland and sudden bursts of summer-like heat.
Photos from our viewers perfectly illustrate just how different WA's climate can be from one end of the state to the other. From grey clouds and a rainbow over a field in the Wheatbelt to yellow blooms in a field in Toodyay, the varied weather conditions were on full display.
Heavy rainfall in the interior
The month began with a notably dry winter for a large part of the state, but the first major downpour didn't deliver the rain to Perth or the South West. Instead, a slow-moving trough drew tropical moisture into the Goldfields and the Interior, producing widespread cloud, rain and thunderstorms across the area.
