Western Australia is pressing ahead with plans to consolidate three public universities, releasing a business case for the proposed amalgamation. The state government announced the move on Sunday, despite concerns from the institutions involved.

Premier Roger Cook said the business case would examine the potential merger of Curtin University, Murdoch University, and the University of Western Australia, with a steering committee expected to present its findings by mid-2027.
