Legendary Australian rock band Powderfinger has announced an 18-date tour across the country, marking their first proper shows since breaking up in 2010. The highly anticipated concerts will take place in major cities from September 2027, under stadium-sized big top tents in central locations.

Tour Details

The tour, described as "part-festival, part-spectacle", will kick off in Brisbane, the band's hometown, before heading to Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne over two months. While no support acts have been announced, the band has pledged to book Australian artists only, with different acts joining them across the tour.

"We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again," Powderfinger said in a statement. "Over the years there have been tons of suggestions for us to go back on the road but, until now, it never felt quite right or lined up for all of us."

The band expressed their gratitude to their long-term fans and new ones who have discovered their music over the years. "We have always been so grateful for the continued support from our long-term fans and over the years we've picked up a lot of new ones who have never seen us play."

"So, it feels right to bring all of these people (including our kids who were too young to see us play) together for a special run of shows around the country next year," the statement added.

Powderfinger also highlighted the significance of their music to their fans, saying: "People often tell us that our music is connected to their most treasured and joyous memories. We hope to spread a little more of that joy when we make our way around the country with some of Australia's best established and upcoming talent, and to make some new memories for us all."

Ticket Information

Tickets will go on sale in stages, starting this week. The first round of tickets is available to subscribers to the band's mailing list and Telstra customers; they will be on sale from 10am on Wednesday, October 14. The second round is open to Live Nation members from Friday, October 16, before tickets for the general public go on sale next Monday, October 19.

The band has partnered with Mission Australia for the tour, pledging to raise funds and awareness for the charity, with further details to be announced.
