Fremantle's Alex Pearce Receives Boost with Injury Update
Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has received positive injury news after suffering a partially ruptured Achilles tendon and calf strain during the AFL grand final. The Dockers are confident that Pearce will return to training during the pre-season.
Fremantle has received a much-needed boost following their AFL grand final loss, with captain Alex Pearce avoiding surgery on his injured Achilles tendon.
The Dockers are optimistic that Pearce, a key defender, will return to training during the pre-season. The news comes as the team continues to reflect on their devastating defeat to Brisbane on Saturday.
Pearce suffered a partially ruptured Achilles tendon and a calf strain during the third quarter of the grand final. He was assisted off the field by trainers and was seen hobbling past the premiership cup on crutches during the post-game presentations.
Brisbane coach Chris Fagan and several of his players offered their best wishes to Pearce immediately after the final siren.
Coach Justin Longmuir attributed the team's loss, in part, to Pearce's absence from the defensive lineup, particularly during Brisbane's last-gasp comeback.
